On Tuesday, 28th October, 2025, His Excellency, the Chairman of the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) Board of Trustees, Rt. Hon. Aminu Bello Masari, officially commissioned the new Faculty of Social Sciences Lecture Theatre and Office Complex at Nasarawa State University, Keffi (NSUK). The state-of-the-art facility, sponsored by TETFund, was commissioned at the faculty’s new annex in a ceremony graced by dignitaries from academia, government, and the political sphere.
In his remarks, Rt. Hon. Masari expressed delight and a deep sense of honor in commissioning the “magnificent” complex, describing it as part of the merged 2020/2021 TETFund intervention projects. He noted that the edifice stands as a visible testimony to the collective commitment to strengthening Nigeria’s higher education system in alignment with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR.
Masari commended the university’s exemplary record of transparency, accountability, and prudent management of public resources. He lauded the Governing Council, management, and entire university community especially the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Sa’adatu Hassan Liman for her visionary leadership and stewardship.
“The complex will serve as a modern and functional facility for quality teaching, academic engagement, and administrative efficiency,” Rt. Hon. Masari stated.
He reaffirmed TETFund’s commitment to supporting higher education in Nigeria and urged NSUK to remain steadfast in academic excellence while fostering unity of purpose in the service of knowledge and humanity.
In her welcome address, Professor Sa’adatu Hassan Liman, Vice-Chancellor of NSUK, expressed profound gratitude to TETFund and its Board of Trustees for their continued support toward creating a conducive learning environment that promotes teaching, research, and innovation.
Professor Liman highlighted the recent Times Higher Education 2025 Ranking, which rated Nasarawa State University as Nigeria’s number one institution for quality education. She also appealed for the establishment of additional faculties, lecture theatres, and student halls to further enhance the university’s capacity, assuring that the principles of accountability and transparency would remain the hallmark of all project executions.
Representing the Executive Secretary of TETFund, Arc. Sonny S.T. Echono, Arc. Babatunde Olajide, Director, Monitoring and Evaluation, delivered a goodwill message, describing the occasion as a testament to shared commitment toward advancing tertiary education in Nigeria. He commended NSUK’s leadership for prudent utilization of TETFund interventions and applauded the Nasarawa State Government for its unwavering support. Echono’s message emphasized the importance of continued collaboration among the tiers of government and development partners to sustain sectoral growth.
Also speaking, the Governor of Nasarawa State, Engr. Abdullahi Sule, represented by the Commissioner for Education, Dr. D.W. Mamman, lauded TETFund for its contributions to the development of the education sector and praised Professor Liman’s visionary leadership, which continues to position NSUK as a centre of academic excellence.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks by the University Registrar, Dr. Bala I. Ahmed II, who expressed appreciation to TETFund, the Executive Governor, and the Vice-Chancellor for their dedication to the growth and transformation of the university. The commissioning ceremony culminated in the formal unveiling of the Faculty of Social Sciences Lecture Theatre (Annex) and Office Complex, followed by a guided tour of the facility led by Rt. Hon. Aminu Bello Masari and other key stakeholders.
