The Sokoto State Indigenes Association, resident in Zazzau Emirate, has formally congratulated Professor Bello Sabo on his appointment as the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration) of Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria.
The association paid a congratulatory visit to Professor Sabo at his Samaru office on Wednesday, October 29, 2025. The delegation was led by its Chairman, Alhaji Salihu Dan Halima Santurakin Ambarura, who described the appointment as a “well-deserved elevation.”
Alhaji Salihu highlighted the association’s role in celebrating indigenes who attain leadership positions to encourage their service to humanity. He commended Professor Sabo’s record of service, noting specific instances where the professor had helped secure state scholarships for indigent Sokoto students through consultations with relevant authorities. He also described Prof. Sabo as a mentor to many students and staff of Sokoto origin over the years.
In his response, Professor Bello Sabo thanked the association for the honor and the visit. He commended the leadership for fostering unity among Sokoto indigenes in the region and assured them of his continued support for their developmental efforts.
The Deputy Vice-Chancellor also used the opportunity to urge the association to encourage younger Sokoto indigenes to pursue education diligently and seek admission into Ahmadu Bello University. He observed that the number of qualified applicants from the state often falls below the available quota, stressing the need for a renewed interest in education among the youth.
