The Vice-Chancellor, Federal University of Transportation, Daura, Hon. Prof. Umar Adam Katsayal, has called on Caliphate Aviation Training Centre, Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) and other stakeholders in transportation to partner with the Federal University of Transportation, Daura, to transform the sector in the country.
The Vice-Chancellor made the call on Friday, 31st October, 2025, during a centenary celebration of Mal. Aminu Kano International Airport (MAKIA) while making a remark.
According to a statement signed by the institution’s Chief Information and Communications Officer, Malam Umar Usman, Professor Katsayal spoke today at an event organised by the Caliphate Aviation Training Centre marking 100 year anniversary of the first aircraft landing in Nigeria at Kano.
The Vice-chancellor commended the Calipate Aviation Training Centre for organizing the historic event in Kani.
The Vice-Chancellor lamented the level of progress made in the sector, saying that the development witnessed should have been more than what is currently available.
“There is the need for more attention to be given to the aviation sector of the country.
“We are talking about 100 years. We need to look back and assess the achievements recorded within this period,” he said.
According to him, the Federal University of Transportation, Daura, was established to provide the needed man-power in the transport sector.
“Considering that, we are ready to partner with all relevant stakeholders in the performance of our expected mandates.
“The University is ready to undertake researches for the improved aviation services including its logistics”, the Vice-Chancellor assured.
He then wished the gathering successful deliberations, and wished everyone journey mercies back to their destinations.
