Senator Shehu Sani has strongly rebuked former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, condemning his actions and statements that seem to celebrate the death of President Yar’adua and the defeat of President Jonathan.
“We fought General Sani Abacha. He arrested us, charged us for treason before his military tribunal, and sentenced us to life imprisonment. I spent four years in prison, and when Abacha died, General Abdulsalami released us. I have since forgiven Abacha and I’m even a friend to some of his family members,” Senator Sani stated.
He further emphasized, “Someone claimed that he fought Yar’adua and Yar’adua died. And wherever he goes, he takes pride and pleasure, and repeatedly boasting that he sent Yar’adua to the grave.”
Senator Sani expressed his dismay, saying, “I don’t know of any person who would like to associate with anyone who is happy that he impliedly killed another person.”
El-Rufai’s recent statement, warning his opponents not to fight him, as Yar’adua did, and ended up in a grave, while Jonathan ended up in Otueke, was the final straw for Senator Sani.
“Taking pride in someone’s death or defeat is not something to be celebrated, or Individuals who take pride in causing harm or death to others or boasts about their involvement in the demise of others is unacceptable and morally reprehensible.
Shehu Sani’s statement highlights the need for leaders to prioritize empathy and humility. Instead of gloating over the misfortunes of others, leaders should focus on promoting unity and progress.
