The Management of Federal University Dutsin-Ma, FUDMA, has commissioned new operational units at its Entrepreneurship Development Centre and initiated partnership talks to complete student hostels and construct staff quarters, in a bid to improve welfare and boost internally generated revenue.
The Vice Chancellor, Professor Mohammed Khalid Othman, performed the commissioning on Thursday, 4th September 2026. The new units are Flex/Printing, Bakery, Tailoring and Hair-Making/Dressing.
Prof. Othman described the development as a hallmark that will enhance the comfort of members of the University and host community. He said “the establishment of the units marked the implementation of first Phase of the Entrepreneurship Center’s development plan.”
He disclosed that the University would allocate hours for staff to attend entrepreneurship training to augment their income.
“The government is doing its best to ensure that citizens have better living by giving them opportunities for self or public employment, but the burden on government is too much and can be complemented with entrepreneurship skills to the students to make them independent and self employed without necessarily relying on white collar jobs,” Prof. Othman stated.
The VC added that he was surprised to find trainable equipment lying idle at the Centre upon assumption of office. He pledged to organize holiday training for students to acquire practical skills without disrupting their studies.
The Director, Entrepreneurship Development Centre, Dr. Umar Mamman, said 75 percent of equipment in the University Store could not be used, so the Centre deployed available ones for training.
“The Entrepreneurship Centre is committed to delivering quality, affordable products and services within and outside the University. It also plans to expose the students to series of training that will enable them to become independent and employers after graduation,” Dr. Mamman said.
The ceremony also featured the unveiling of products and services from the new units.

In a related development, FUDMA held an interactive session with MC-MARCX Limited to explore partnership for completing five uncompleted hostels and constructing quarters for Principal Officers, Deans and Directors.
The session was chaired on behalf of the VC by the DVC Academics, Prof. Abubakar Sadiq Suleiman.
Prof. Othman said the University had done an in-house estimate on cost, duration, payment modality and approved designs. He asked MC-MARCX to submit its company profile, costing, and details of personnel to enable the partnership to take off.
The Chairman and CEO of MC-MARCX Limited, Arc. Ibrahim Aminu, thanked FUDMA for considering the company.
“I have inspected the five uncompleted hostels and examined the conditions of the partnership. I will present to FUDMA management our proposed costing, validity, mode of payment, and details of personnel and equipment for further action,” Arc. Aminu stated.
