The Registrar/Chief Executive, National Examinations Council (NECO), Prof. Dantani Ibrahim Wushishi has been honoured with the “Integrity in Public Service Award”.
Also, the Council was honoured with the “corporate Excellence Award”.
The awards were bestowed on NECO and Prof. Wushishi by the Verbatim News Network Limited during the media organization 10th Year Anniversary and Leadership Awards celebration in Abuja.
Editor-in-Chief of Verbatim News Magazine, Mr. Tobs Anyaegbu said NECO was selected for the award because of the role it has played in the educational development of the Country through the conduct of credible examinations
Anyaegbu explained that Prof. Wushishi was nominated for the award because within one year of his stewardship in NECO, he has positively impacted and repositioned the Council.

He stated that “he (Wushishi) has delivered the dividends of good education through proper determination and activities, and we felt that having scored NECO high in their activities, we thought it wise to award the man who led the Institution with this award”.
In his acceptance speech, Prof. Wushishi appreciated the media organization for the awards, stressing that NECO would continue to ensure credibility and transparency in the discharge of her mandate.
According to him, “today NECO is in the news for good because that institution is key to Nigeria’s developments, due to its status of being the largest indigenous examination body in the Country and Africa.
“So, every family in Nigeria has a stake in that Institution and we have done so much to see that things are done within the frame work that established the institution”, he further stated.
The Registrar dedicated the awards to Nigeria children who look onto NECO as a vehicle towards the realization of their quest for higher education.

Prof. Wushishi commended members of NECO Governing Board for providing the necessary guidance which has assisted the Management in steering the affairs of the Council on the right path.
He equally commended members of Management and the entire Staff of the Council for their hard work, and sacrifice which has propelled NECO to the enviable height which it has attained today.
Former Inspector General of Police, Mr. Solomon Arase, who was the Chairman of the occasion, congratulated the Registrar for his diligence and the modest achievements which he has recorded since his assumption of office.
The event was graced by the Chairman of NECO Governing Board, Dr. Abubakar Siddique Mohammed as well as some members of the Board.
NECO Management, immediate family of the Registrar, Staff, Friends and well-wishers also attended the event.
