Socio-cultural Organization by the name Gwantu Progressive People’s Union (GWAPPU) has appealed to the federal government to, in the spirit of fairness, equity, and for the sake of humanity, cite a Federal Medical Centre, Federal University or any Tertiary Institution in Gwantu, Headquarters of Sanga local government area of Kaduna State.
The ‘Save Our Soul’ appeal was made by the National President of the Union, Prince Bala Audu, in an exclusive chat with Health Monitor in Abuja.
The GWAPPU President highlighted that Gwantu which is the most strategically located local government headquarters in kaduna state by virtue of being the only major town in the north western state of Kaduna that borders two strategic north central states of Plateau and Nasarawa, deserves a Federal Government presence of any kind, particularly, a federal hospital or a University.
Prince Audu lamented that apart from Gwantu, the entire Southern Kaduna or Zone Three Federal Constituency has not been fairly treated in terms of recognition for the citation of federal establishments, particularly, tertiary institutions.
Prince Audu, who is also the Shattiman Gwantu, however commended efforts of the present administration in the state which, like its predecessors have tried their best to recognize Gwantu and its hospitable aborigines and carried them along in the governance of the state, a fact that reached its climax by adopting one of its distinguished daughters as the state’s deputy governor.
The Shattiman Gwantu who commended Governor Nasiru El-rufai for this wonderful gesture, however called on the governor to help make case to the federal government on behalf of Gwantu People for the request of Federal Medical Centre or any tertiary institution in the area.
