The Director General of Edo State liaison office in Abuja, DCN Festus Osaigbovo today, led Edo people in thanksgiving to God for not letting Edo People down in their yawning for good governance, allowing Governor Godwin Obaseki to win his second term re-election bit in the keenly contested September 9 gubernatorial election.
“In all these, you stood firmly by me and God Almighty stood by us and by his grace, we saw and we conquered. This is an attestation to the fact that ‘when God is with us, no one can be against us.
“I want to specifically thank God for today, for not disappointing us and the good people of Edo State, by making sure our Amiable Governor, Godwin Nogheghase Obaseki was returned to Osadebe Avenue for a second term in office to enable him consolidate on the monumental achievements recorded in his first tenure and make Edo great again”.
DCN Osaigbovo, who took to high praises and thanks to God at his home town of Oza in Orhionmwon Local Government Area of Edo State, described the person of Obaseki as “man of candor and probity, a great and silent achiever, a pathfinder, a visionary Leader with a soft heart for the people, a Technocrat per Excellence, a man whose Sagacity, Tenacity and Doggedness in fighting oppression viz a viz Godfatherism”.
DCN Festus said Obasek’s Leadership and administrative prowess transcends the ordinary imagination; saying that His re-election was timely for Edo state as it came in such a time when some Federal Government Parastatals, States and local Governments are finding it difficult to pay salaries of workers, Edo State under Obaseki is a scenario of Goshen in Egypt during the time Moses and Pharaoh; noting that Edo people cannot thank God enough for giving them this Political Colossus and Trailblazer as our Governor.
According to him, several Thanksgivings that were held at different places of worship within the State, is a testament of the kind of Governor the people have; A man with the heart of gold for his people.
Lamenting how the year was plunged into series of heart wrecking disasters of coronavirus and EndSars Protest, the DG said these are other reasons why Edo people must thank God for not being consumed.
“Despite the ferocity and deadly nature of the pandemic, we embarked on a journey whose mission was the re-election of His Excellency, Governor Godwin Nogheghase Obaseki and his Deputy Hon. Philip Shaibu for a second term in office.
“As if the threat of the pandemic was not enough to deter and dissuade us, a lot also came from those who see themselves as the owners of Oza, Aibiokunla ward 2 and Orhionmwon politics, who were bent on not supporting the re-election bid of the “wake and see Governor”, those who thrives in the continuity of anti-progressive efforts.
“While we were still basking in the euphoria of our Electoral Victory, the year was also struck by EndSars Protest which led to massive destruction of lives and properties, but yet we were not consumed; these and many more are the reasons we need to be grateful to God our Maker”.
“Despite the ups and downs this year, we are alive to tell the story, our feet are firmly on the ground and our God will not allow them to be moved nor uprooted.
“You can be rest assured that we have a Bossom Friend, Brother and a Father in the person of our Amiable Governor, Godwin Nogheghase Obaseki and his Deputy Hon. Philip Shaibu. Their victory is our collective victory and together we will make Edo great again” DCN Festus assured.
