The National President of Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU), Comrade Muhammad H. Ibrahim has commended the Chairman of the association’s ABU Zaria branch, Comrade Muhammad A. Yunusa as well as other staff members for their support to his administration, describing ABU as one of the strongest pillars of the association.
Speaking during the association’s special congress meeting which held at the Assembly Hall of Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, main campus, the president vowed that SSANU will definitely continue to shine both within and without federal universities.
Acknowledging the effort of the incumbent Chairman of the SSANU, ABU Zaria branch, Comrade Ibrahim described him as a good leader whose determination, commitment and foresight moves the association forward despite economic hardship and hostility of environment.
Among some of the priorities of his administration, Comrade Ibrahim pledged to fill the gap between universities’ congresses and national body; ensure provision of uniform career structure; make hazard allowances beneficial to all staff members; curtail usurpation of positions of non-teaching staff and address the obstacles placed in the career progression of staff members.
“As a strong pillar which no university system can operate without, the present administration will, through determination and cooperation, ensure that SSANU is part of the decision making of every university, with the voices of its staff members heard, and their rights observed,” the president assures.
On a final note, Comrade Ibrahim urged all staff members to take their job seriously and observe discipline and honesty in carrying out their jobs.
