The Director General of the Nigerian Institute of Advanced Legal Studies (NIALS), Professor Muhammad Tawfiq Ladan, has congratulated Professor Paul Idornigie, SAN, NIALS’ former Director of Research, and one time Acting Director General, on his nomination as a Member of the Permanent Court of Arbitration (PCA) in The Hague, Netherlands.
Professor Ladan hailed the nomination as “timely and worthy,” recognizing Professor Idornigie’s exceptional dedication and wealth of experience in the legal field.
Professor Ladan praised Professor Idornigie’s remarkable career, which has been marked by his outstanding contributions to legal research, education, and practice. “Professor Idornigie is a true icon in the legal profession, and his appointment to the PCA is a testament to his hard work, expertise, and commitment to justice,” he said.
In a related development, Professor Ladan also congratulated former Director of Special Programs in his office (NIALS), Justice Stella Anukam on her re-election as Judge of the African Human Rights Court, Tanzania, for another term of six years.
Professor Ladan also congratulated his former SA on Consultancy Services and International Relations, Associate Professor, Dr Nkiruka Madueke, on her appointment as the Director General/CEO – National Council on Climate change.
He said the appointment of the trio of Professor Idornigie, Lady-Justice Anukam and Associate Professor Madueke is a testimony of their unwavering commitment to upholding human rights and justice on the continent.
Professor Ladan praised the NIALS’ former staff for their remarkable contributions to the advancement of law and justice in Nigeria and beyond, and expressed his institute’s pride in their achievements.
“NIALS is honored to have been associated with these distinguished legal minds, and we celebrate their successes as a testament to our commitment to excellence in legal research, education, and advocacy,” he said.
Professor Ladan also noted that the appointments are a reflection of Nigeria’s strategic importance in the global legal community, and demonstrate the country’s continued leadership in the pursuit of justice and human rights. “These appointments are a testament to Nigeria’s rich legal talent and our nation’s unwavering commitment to upholding the rule of law and promoting justice globally,” he said.
