The family of the late Registrar of National Examinations Council (NECO), Professor Godswill Obioma, has denied reports that he was assassinated by unknown gun men.
The family, in a communication to the Council, confirmed that Professor Obioma died yesterday after a brief illness.
Our findings revealed that the reports making the rounds in social and other media outlets that the late Registrar was assassinated in his house in Minna was faulty and must have been planted with bad intent, as the Registrar never lived in any house while he was in Minna.
Our source gathered that throughout his stay in Minna since his appointment one year ago, the late Registrar stayed in a hotel.
A statement signed by the Director, Human Resource Management of the Council, Mustapha K Abdul titled, “DEATH OF NECO REGISTRAR/CHIEF EXECUTIVE”, said, “I am directed to inform all staff of the Council of the death of Prof Godswill Obioma, Registrar/Chief Executive of the National Examination Council (NECO), who according to family sources, died yesterday 31st May, 2021, after a brief illness”.
“While staff are enjoined to remain calm, the Council prays for the peaceful repose of his soul”, the statement added.
