Staff of the University of Mkar, Mkar (UMM), Benue State, have unanimously passed a vote of confidence on their Vice Chancellor, Professor Zacharys Anger Gundu.

The Staff who passed the vote of confidence on the Vice Chancellor on Friday 28/10/2022 in his office, during a surprise courtesy visit on him told him that the rationale behind the visit was to affirm their unalloyed support and to applaud him for his faithfulness, passion and commitment to the growth and development of the University.

Among other things, the staff, being representatives of all the Colleges, Departments and Units of the University of Mkar, Mkar specifically commended the Vice-Chancellor for evidently sacrificing his time and personal comfort for the growth and survival of UMM.

The spokesperson for the staff, Dr. Joshua Ngbede conveyed high commendations of the entire University Community to Prof. Gundu for putting in place the needed academic and operational standards, which even within a relatively short period of his service, has placed the University of Mkar, Mkar on the right pedestal for recognition in the comity of Universities in Nigeria and the world.

He further averred that it was in recognition of the Vice-Chancellor’s impressive scorecard that staff of the University resolved to pass a vote of confidence on him.

Dr Ngbede, who is the Head of Department, Biological Sciences formally presented the vote of confidence message duly signed by 139 staff of the University of Mkar, Mkar.

Dr. Ngbede further informed the Vice-Chancellor that the list of signatories would have been much longer if it were not to be presented on that Friday because many staff would not take it kindly for not given them opportunity to append their names and signatures.

In his response, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof.Gundu appreciated members of staff for the confidence reposed in him. He asked members of staff to continue to pray for the grace to enable him remain focused on his developmental efforts.

It is on record that, this is the first vote of confidence ever passed by the staff of the University of Mkar, Mkar on any sitting Vice-Chancellor since its inception in 2005. At hand in the Vice-Chancellor’s office during the historic event were some principal officers and very eminent staff of the University who included Dr.Michael Akase Shima (Deputy Vice-Chancellor); Mr.Philips Amo Ioryina(Bursar): Rev.Dr.S.I. Aande (Dean College of Arts/HOD Religion and Philosophy); Dr.D.M. Akpera (HOD Business Management); Mr. Isaiah Mandeun ( Director, Center for Continuing Education);

Others included His Excellency, Ambassador Michael Terver Agbidye (who also represented the Registrar); Mr.Sekav Hanior; Mrs.Nancy Hule.
