The Provost of Federal College of Education, Pankshin in Plateau state, Dr. Cirfat Amos Bulus, has bagged a Public Service Meritorious Award 2019/2020 as the Best Provost, Colleges of Education in Nigeria.

The award was presented by the National  Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) during the matriculation ceremony of NCE 1 students in the College recently.

Born five decades ago at Kwanpe in Langtang North LGA, of Plateau state, Dr. Cirfat Amos Bulus journey up the ladder of academics  began way back at R.C.M. Transfer School, Langtang, where he bagged his First School Leaving Certificate in 1974. He then proceeded to Government Secondary School, Pankshin and obtained his West African School Certificate in 1979. In 1983, the insatiable quest for more knowledge at the brooks of wisdom earned him his Nigerian Certificate in Education from the prestigious College of Education, Gindiri, Plateau State. In the masterful expansion of capacity, the erudite Bulus Cirfat bagged his Bachelor of Education in Biology from the famous Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria in 1990. Later, he proceeded to the University of Jos and procured a Master’s of Science Education in 1993. In 2004, he obtained a Certificate in Computer Appreciation at the Federal College of Education, Pankshin. At the peak of the love for knowledge in 2014, he bagged a PhD Science Education from the Benue State University, Makurdi.

Dr. Bulus Cirfat did not leave the society wanting in benefitting from this wealth of wisdom as he left no stone unturned in the transformation of the society via the wealth of his knowledge.

This he started as he responded to the clarion call of his nation for NYSC in Cross River State (now Akwa-Ibom) between 1983 and 1984; then as a Biology Teacher at Boys’ Secondary School, Gindiri, from 1984 to 1993. He later joined the services of the College of Education, Gindiri as Lecturer II in 1993 where he served for two years.

Commitment to excellence catapulted Dr Bulus to Federal College of Education Pankshin, Plateau State, in 1995 where he has been for more than two decades. In Pankshin, he rose through the ranks, from Lecturer I to Chief Lecturer.

At times interval, he was the Head of Biology department, the Dean of Students Affairs Unit, two times the Dean, School of Sciences, Chairman, SERVICOM Unit, between 2007 and 2008, Deputy Provost, from 2008 to 2012, Chief Lecturer, from 2005  to date and the Provost of the College from 2017 to date.

Dr. Bulus Cirfat is a refined gift to Nigeria, a thorough-bred scholar with an enigmatic expertise in uncovering the mystic gems in the genetic composition of Gregog Mendel and the profound depth in the cellular preoccupation of Robert Hook. His over three decades’ experience in teaching, research and leadership has added to the parchments of history, an indispensable capstone in the structure called Nigeria.

In him is a policy maker of uncommon foresight and remarkable innovative service, whose towering vision and unquenchable passion have empowered his protégés. Like an eagle he has soared to the apex with feats, placing on record, imperishable notches in the sands of time. He is indeed a rare voice in the world of sciences and leadership development. He is a visionary leader, whose hard work and dedication to duty are the archetype of a model to this generation
