The Governing Council of Federal University Lafiya (FULAFIYA), has approved the appointment of Professor Sama’Ila Usman Dakyes as Depuy Vice Chancellor – Research and Partnership.
Dakyes, a World Class Professor of Forensic Graphics and Security Printing was first elected by the University Senate during its 19th Extra Ordinary Meeting which held on the 4th of May, 2023, and subsequently approved by the Council on Thursday, 18th, 2023.
Before his appointment in his present capacity, Professor Dakyes was the Dean Faculty of Environmental Design in the University.
The Depuy Vice Chancellor Research and Partnership obtained his First, Second and Third degrees in Industrial Design from the famous Ahmadu Bello University Zaria, where he taught between 1991 – 2021, and rose to the rank of Professor in 2016.
Professor Dakyes transferred his services from Ahmadu Bello University Zaria-Nigeria, where he held several academic and administrative positions and taught for 30 years, to the Federal University Lafiya on 29th July, 2021.
Within his short stint in the Federal University Lafiya, Professor Dakyes has rendered several serene contributions towards the development of the university.
His first assignments in the University was his appointment as Chairman – Convocation Ceremony Committee, Chairman – Committee to Investigate the Growing Dissatisfaction Amongst Students of the Department of Special Needs and Rehabilitation Education, Chairman Ad-hoc committee to organize Farewell Dinner for the outgoing registrar of the University who bowed out in 2022.
Professor Dakyes also served as a Member of the committee to Audit staff of the Institution’s Directorate of Physical Planning and Directorate of Works, Member – New Committee of the Board of the Centre of Continuing Education and Professional Development, Member – Federal University Security Committee, Member – Committee of Deans and Directors.
He also served as Chairman – Committee on Event Management/Protocol Sub-committee NGA National Conference, Chairman – Ad-hoc committee to develop statutes 2022 for the Federal University, Chairman – Committee on review of Federal University of Lafiya 2019/2020 Annual Report, Chairman – Committee on FULAFIYA Printing Press Ltd.
