ADDIS ABABA, ETHIOPIA – Professor Muhammed Tawfiq Ladan, will serve as lead presenter at the 12th Forum of Legal Experts and Diplomats organized by the African Union Commission on International Law (AUCIL), scheduled for 19–20 May 2026 at the African Union Headquarters in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

The forum’s theme is _“International Environmental and Water Resource Governance in Africa”_. Prof. Ladan’s presentation is titled “Strategies for Addressing the Challenges of Implementing State Obligations on Water Governance Under Environmental and Water Treaties for Sustainable Development in Africa”.

Professor Ladan is a Professor of Regional Economic Integration Law and Practice in Africa, a Hubert Humphrey Fellow at the University of Minnesota, USA, and a Member of the IUCN Commission on Climate Action for the 2023–2029 term.

AUCIL’s annual forum convenes legal experts, diplomats, and scholars to discuss pressing issues of international law affecting the continent. This year’s focus on environmental and water resource governance reflects growing concerns over transboundary water management, climate change impacts, and treaty implementation across Africa.

The 12th forum will be held at the African Union HQ in Addis Ababa on 19–20 May 2026.
