The Vice-Chancellor of Federal University of Lafia, Professor Mohammed Isa Kida, has announced that the institution will host the 45th edition of its Inaugural Lecture Series on *Wednesday, 24th June 2026*.
The lecture, titled _Egyptology, Egyptomania & Khemetology: Literature and the Black African Literary Masters of Homer, Socrates, Plato, Aristotle, etc._, will be delivered by Mallam Al-Bishak, M.O.N., Professor of African Literature with a specialty in Literary Egyptology.
In the lecture, Prof. Al-Bishak is expected to examine the links between African literary traditions and classical Greek thought, arguing for the recognition of Black African contributions to the intellectual foundations often attributed solely to Homer, Socrates, Plato, and Aristotle.
The topic reflects the university’s growing emphasis on African-centered scholarship and interdisciplinary research in the humanities.
The inaugural lecture series is a platform for professors who have attained the rank of professor to present their research and intellectual contributions to the academic community and the public.
Members of the academic community, students, researchers, and the general public are invited to attend the lecture and the accompanying exhibition on Wednesday, 24th June 2026.
The Federal University of Lafia has, in recent years, positioned itself as a hub for cultural and literary studies in North-Central Nigeria, with a focus on promoting research that re-centers African perspectives in global academia.
The event will take place at the Federal University of Lafia, Nasarawa State, under the auspices of the Governing Council, Senate, and the University Community. It will also feature a photo exhibition of ancient artifacts related to the theme.
Prof. Kida, who will serve as Chairman of the occasion, holds a http://B.Sc from Maiduguri, an http://M.Sc from Lagos, and a Ph.D from Maiduguri, and is a Fellow of the Institute of Industrial Administration, FIICA, and a Chartered National Accountant, CNA.
