Prof AK Appointed Director/CEO NAPRI

The Vice Chancellor of Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, Professor Ibrahim Garba has appointed Professor Abdullahi Kolo Mohammed as the Director fo National Animal Production and Research Institute (NAPRI), Shika.
Mohammed who was born on 15th February, 1960 in Daja, Zugurma District of Niger State, attended, Turaki Primary School, Sokoto, in 1974 from where he proceeded to Government Secondary School Minna where he obtained his West African School Certificate in 1979.
He was admitted into the famous School of Basic Studies, ABU, Zaria in 1980 and on successful completion of his IJMB program he was admitted into the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine where he obtained his DVM Degree in 1985.
After his mandatory NYSC, he joined the services of the Faculty on 11th January, 1990 after working for 3 years in Niger State Civil Service, and for one year as a Lecturer in Niger State College of Agriculture, Mokwa; where he enrolled for his M.Sc. and PhD, obtaining his Masters and PhD degrees in 1999 and 2006 respectively.
While in ABU, he rose from the rank of Assistant Research Fellow at NAPRI in 1990 to Professor in October 2012.
He served as program leader Livestock Systems Research Program, Assistant Director Extension and Linkages, Program Leader, Equine and Camel Research Program, at the National Animal Production Research Institute between 2009 and 2014.
Before his recent appointment as Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Institute, he served as the Deputy Director between January 2013 to January 2015.
Professor Mohammed has conducted several research activities in different areas of interest and has published several articles in both Local and International Journals. He is happily married and blessed with five children.
