Senator Shehu Sani has accused critics of President Bola Tinubu’s appointments of hypocrisy, arguing that they remained silent when former President Muhammadu Buhari failed to deliver on key projects in Northern Nigeria.
“He has given all the key institutions and ministries to the North,” Senator Sani said, listing several appointments made by President Tinubu, including the Chief of Defence Staff, National Security Adviser, Ministers of Agriculture, Defence, and Education.
Senator Sani’s argument is that when Buhari was in power for 96 months, he failed to construct major roads, activate the Mambila power plant, revive the River Niger, and dualise key express routes in Northern Nigeria.
Despite these failures, Buhari’s supporters remained silent and refused to hold him accountable. Senator Sani criticized this double standard, asking why Buhari’s allies are now threatening President Tinubu with re-election.
The senator also criticized Buhari’s administration for spending billions of naira on agriculture without tangible results and for appointing Northerners who failed to serve the region’s interests.
Senator Sani’s statement has sparked a lively debate on social media, with many Nigerians weighing in on the issue.
While some have praised Senator Sani for speaking truth to power, others have criticized him for defending what they see as a lopsided appointments process.
However, Senator Sani’s argument has highlighted the hypocrisy and double standards of Buhari’s supporters.
As the debate continues, one thing is clear: Senator Shehu Sani’s statement has added a new dimension to the conversation on President Tinubu’s appointments and the legacy of former President Buhari’s administration.
The senator’s statement is a call to action, urging Nigerians to hold leaders accountable for their actions, regardless of their ethnicity or region.
It’s a message that resonates with many Nigerians who are tired of the politics of entitlement and the failure of leadership in the country.
As Nigeria continues to navigate its complex political landscape, Senator Sani’s statement serves as a reminder that leadership is about accountability, transparency, and serving the greater good.
