The two steering Committees constituted for the take-off of the proposed College of Health and Medical Sciences and Faculty of Engineering have advocated for the establishment of Special Science Secondary Schools in all the three Senatorial Zones of the state to ensure indigenous students are well grounded in basic sciences to enable them fill up spaces that will be created with the establishment of the two new faculties
This is part of the submission of the interim report of the Committees on the establishment of the two new faculties submitted to the Visitor to the Nasarawa State University, Keffi, and Executive Governor of Nasarawa State Engr. Abdullahi A. Sule at the Government House in Lafia.
The Committee also advised the state government to liaise with the Federal Government for the upgrading of the Federal Medical Centre Keffi to a full-fledged Teaching Hospital which will serve the residency needs of the College of Medical and Health Sciences.
Receiving the reports, Governor Sule who could not hide his excitement on the reports hailed the Committee for coming up with such brilliant recommendations because they are in line with his administrations policy on education.
Governor Sule lauded the Professor Suleiman Bala Mohammed led management team for the vision and courage of establishing the new faculties considering the critical roles that Medicine and Engineering play in every society and also the dearth of manpower in the two fields.
He praised the Vice-Chancellor for assembling the team of professionals who made up the membership of the Committees.
Earlier, the Vice Chancellor, Professor Suleiman Bala Mohammad thanked the Governor for the massive support he has been rendering Tertiary Institutions in the state and for enabling the University to secure a high impact intervention fund from Tetfund which he said will be deployed for the development and take off of the two new faculties.
