The Nigerian Institute of Advanced Legal Studies (NIALS), Abuja, has finalized preparations to host a two-day National Seminar for the Deans of Faculities of Law of Nigerian Universities.
An invitation sent to Education Monitor from the office of the Director General of the Institute, Professor Muhammed Tawfiq Ladan, highlighted that the seminar is a collaborative initiative between NIALS and three Nigerian Universities.
The three universities are Bauchi State University, Gadau, Almuhibbah Open University, Abuja, and University of Ilorin, with support from the Centre for Law and Religion Studies, Brigham Young University, UTAH, USA.
Themed, “National Seminar on Law and Religion Studies and Legal Education in Nigeria”, the two-day fully funded event which will take place at Rockview Classical Hotel, Wuse 2, Abuja at 9:00 Daily, is open for general public participation.
While the Director General of NIALS, Professor Muhammed Tawfiq Ladan, Hubert Humphrey Fellow, USA, will be the Chief host of the Seminar, the Vice-Chancellors of Almuhibbah Open University, Abuja, Professor Ahmed Garba, University of Ilorin, Processor Wahab Egbewole, SAN, and Bauchi State University (Sa’adu Zungur University), Gadau, Professor Fatima Tahir, will be Co-hosts.
Shedding more light to Education Monitor on the event, Professor Ladan said “the seminar seeks to establish a significant nexus between Law and Religion in a democratic society as part of our legal education in Nigeria”.
He revealed that,”we are going to present a draft curriculum for review and validation by the Deans of Law for possible integration into teaching existing law courses in Nigerian Universities”
