A human rights lawyer and partner at Deji Adeyanju and Partners, Comrade Deji Adeyanju, has commended the Federal Government of Nigeria for its initiatives on free Cesarean sections and subsidized kidney dialysis. He made the commendation on the occasion of International Women’s Day.
In a statement, Adeyanju praised the government’s efforts to improve healthcare accessibility and affordability, particularly for women. He described the free Cesarean section initiative as “laudable” and “transformative,” noting that it would help reduce maternal mortality rates in Nigeria.
Adeyanju emphasized that every woman deserves access to safe childbirth, regardless of financial constraints. He urged the government to ensure rigorous monitoring of the scheme to prevent exploitation by health workers, particularly in rural communities.
In addition to the free Cesarean section initiative, Adeyanju also applauded the government’s decision to approve a subsidy on kidney dialysis. This move reduces the cost of dialysis from N50,000 to N12,000 in 11 hospitals, providing a vital lifeline for many Nigerians suffering from kidney disease.
Adeyanju who expressed his deepest admiration to Nigerian women for their resilience, hard work, and sacrifices, urged the government to prioritize their needs, recognizing that women’s strength is the backbone of Nigerian society.
