The Proprietor of the proposed Ahman Pategi University, Pategi, Honorable Aliyu Ahmad Pategi (Galadiman Pategi) has appointed the immediate past Bursar and the Incumbent Director of Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) Zaria Hotels Ltd., Mallam Ibrahim Shehu Usman as Chairman of the University’s preliminary ad-hoc committee.

A letter personally signed by Hon. Pategi, addressed to the Former Bursar, entitled, “Letter of Engagement”, read, “I write to convey to you a letter of appointment to serve as Chairman of the proposed Ahman Pategi University Preliminary Ad-hoc Committee.”

The letter further read, “it is my pleasure to inform you that our process of acquiring a license to operate a private university in Nigeria according to the laid down rules of the National Universities Commission (NUC) has reached an advanced stage.

Appointed as members of the Malam Usman-led six-man committee were Professor Hassan Ibrahim, Hajiya Salamatu Azumi Ndayako, Mallam Abubakar Adamu, Malam Mustapha Sheikh Abdullahi, and Miss Sa’adatu Akilu Indabawa who will serve as the Committee’s Secretary.

The letter said, “Each member was carefully selected based on his or her wealth of experience in a specific field”. The letter further stressed that,  “As members of this committee, you are expected to bring the much-needed perspective to birth this university.”

According to the letter, composition of the ad-hoc committee has become timely to perform the preliminary responsibility of ensuring the smooth take-off of the university.

The committee will, among many tasks, be charged with the following responsibilities;

  1. Serve as an advisory body to the Ahman Pategi University’s Project Implementation Committee (APU-PIC) Chaired by Professor Olarinde Smaranda.
  2. Briefly understudy some selected private and public universities across the country to tap from their success stories and also understand their challenges.
  3. The Committee is expected to propose an academic and administrative structure for the University in line with the already developed academic brief of the University.
  4. Identify possible partnerships with sister institutions.
  5. To identify staffing requirements (academic and administrative) and also sort out key faculty members.
  6. Provide a 10 years blueprint (to be reviewed after two years from start date).
  7. To roll out guidelines for appointment of Council members, interim Vice Chancellor, Registrar, Bursar, and all other staff.
  8. Interact with a number of I.T experts on how to develop the University’s website and portal.
  9. To map out publicity avenues for the New University.
