The Federal Capital Territory Authority has said that it has since taken care of the unprofessional conduct exhibited at Gudu Cemetery during the burial of Mallam Abba Kyari, the former Chief of Staff to President Muhammadu Buhari.

In a statement from the Capital Authority says the said Personal Protective Equipment PPE left over by the individual has been professionally evacuated and the entire cemetery has been decontaminated.

“In addition, all the individuals including the man in question that participated in the burial and were not properly kitted have been identified and are being isolated.

The statement, which was signed by Dr Mohammed Kawu,  Ag. Secretary Health and Human Services Secretariat FCTA, all necessary tests will be conducted on every individual quarantined to be sure of their health status.

He appealed for calm  as FCTA administration will ensure that all future burials of victims of COVID- 19 are conducted in line with protocols established by the Nigerian Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), assuring that it will continue to do all that is necessary to curtail and eventually end the spread of the Coronavirus in the FCT.

A video has been trending on social media, showing a man pulling off his Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) unprofessionally after participating in the burial of the late Chief of Staff to President Muhammadu Buhari, Malam Abba Kyari, at the Gudu cemetery, Abuja.

This has caused great concern on the citizenry on how careless the organizers of the burial were and what ulterior motive the said man had in mind.

The question bothering the minds of many Nigerians is whether the man had been contracted to further spread the disease or was he already aware of his status and does not want to go down alone? That is left to be pondered upon but that singular act does not only need isolation but should be followed with punishment.
