As Nigerians mourn the tragic death of the Chief of Army Staff, Attahiru alongside his comrades in a plane crash, President Buhari was absent at his burial.
In the evening of May 21, 2021, a tragic plane crash occurs in Kaduna State as a result of a heavy rainfall as reported by thewhip online newspaper, leaving the chief of Army Staff and ten others dead.
The tragic event which happen at around 6 p.m. raises a lot of questions in the minds of Nigerians as to what leads to plane crash.
The remains of the chief of Army Staff and his comrades were buried on Saturday, May 22, 2021 at the military cemetery in Abuja.
Unfortunately, neither the President, who is the Commander-in-chief of the Army nor the Vice President were seen at the scene of the burial.
This causes controversies among Nigerians as to why the President was absent at the scene of the burial, which was only 15 miles away from the Aso Villa.
Reno Omokri, who is a Nigerian activist laments the absence of the President and the Vice President at the burial, portraying that this would discourage Nigerians from wanting to die for their mother land.
“Buhari called General Attahiru a hero, but did not attend his funeral just 15 miles from Aso Rock. Yet, he traveled 4000 miles to Paris. Even Osinbajo did not attend, yet he traveled 2500 miles to Kampala. Why would anyone then want to die for Nigeria?”, Omokri tweeted.
