A daring attack by bandits on the Kankara General Hospital in Katsina State has left five people abducted, but thankfully, a brilliant young doctor, Murtala Sale-Dandashire, survived the ordeal despite being shot.

The incident occurred when bandits stormed the hospital, shooting sporadically and causing chaos. Dr. Dandashire, a graduate of Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) Zaria, was attending to patients when he was shot in the leg.

Fortunately, Dr. Dandashire is receiving treatment Federal Teaching Hospital Katsina where he is responding well, according to the Katsina State police command’s spokesman, Abubakar Aliyu.

The attack, which happened in the dead of night, also resulted in the abduction of five people, including patients and hospital staff. The motive behind the attack is still unclear, but it is believed to be a kidnapping for ransom.

The incident has sparked widespread concern and condemnation, with many calling for increased security measures to protect hospitals and medical personnel.

The Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) has also issued a statement condemning the attack and demanding that the government take immediate action to ensure the safety of healthcare workers.

The attack on the Kankara General Hospital is the latest in a series of violent incidents in Katsina State, which has been plagued by banditry and kidnapping in recent months.

The police have launched an investigation into the incident and are working to rescue the abducted victims.
