The death has occured of a very strong activist of Academic Staff Union of  Universities (ASUU), Professor Isa Mohammed Wade.
Professor Mohammed who served as a Commissioner of Higher Education for eight years in Gombe state during the tenure of Governor Dan Kwambo, was also one of the leading gubernatorial aspirants of the People Democratic Party who wanted to succeed his boss.
Prof Mohammed who, before his appointment as Commissioner in Gombe State, was a lecturer at the University of Abuja where he played vital roles in reviving ASUU. He served the Union in various capacities both at local and national levels.
After serving as Commissioner for eight years and when he could not succeed in his bid to contest the governoship election in his state, he returned to the University to continue his lecturing job.
Professor Mohammed who is survived by his wives and children will be buried in Gombe after his funeral prayer at 4:00 pm today (Saturday, 27th June, 2020), which is scheduled to take place at Federal Teaching Hospital, formerly known as Federal Medical Centre Gombe.
