For the first time in the history of Bichi, a town believed, by historians, to have come into existence in 1600, played host to thousands of dignitaries of different calibre who came from different parts of the world to attend the wedding ceremony of the daughter of the Emir of Bichi, Princess Zahra Ado Bayero with Yusuf, the only Son of President Muhammadu Buhari, and to also attend the coronation ceremony and presentation of staff of office to Alhaji Nasir Ado Bayero as the second Emir of Bichi by the Executive governor of Kano state, Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.
People of the ancient town of Bichi which stood still for two days because of these twin events, in an interview with Palace Monitor thanked the Almighty Allah for sparing their lives to witness this historic day.
The people who could not hide their happiness and excitement over the two ceremonies also thanked Allah for blessing them with such a leader as their Emir, believing that they are as sure as night follows day that the Emirate is going to witness unprecedented transformations under the leadership of the legendary Bayero descendant.
The Bichi August gathering brought together, to the amazement of Nigerian masses, politicians who put aside party differences, as arch political rivals were seen sharing pleasentaries and hugging one another.
