The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, branch, has endorsed the appointment of Professor Adamu Ahmed as the 14th Vice Chancellor of the Premier Ivory tower, by the Mahmud Ahmed Yayale-led Governing Council.
The Union, in a message, dated 6th February, 2025, to the university community, titled, “Message of Solidarity to the University Community Over the Emergence of a New Vice Chancellor”, described the election as peaceful and successful.
The Union’s message which was signed by the Chairman, Professor Haruna M. Jibril, and Secretary, Dr Hassan Bala, said, “on behalf of Academic Staff Union of Universities, Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, we extend our solidarity and goodwill message to the University community over the peaceful and successful completion of the recent transition exercise that has seen the emergence of Professor Adamu Ahmed as the next Vice Chancellor of our great institution”
The Union which however lamented that the new Vice Chancellor is assuming leadership of the university at a time it is facing existential challenges of enormous proportion, has pledged to support the Vice Chancellor to overcome the challenges in the interest of all.
“We also hope that this new chapter presents an opportunity for growth, collaboration and a renewed focus on the core values that makes the Premier Institution a beacon of excellence,” ASUU assured.
As a Union, we are committed to prioritizing the rights and welfare of our members, fairness and transparency. We are equally keen on fostering a relationship built on mutual respect, dialogue and collaboration with the leadership of the University.
