Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani, has received commendations for his remarkable success in ensuring peace and security across the state, particularly in Southern Kaduna and Birnin Gwari, where violent conflicts had previously claimed innocent lives.
The Vice-Chancellor of Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Professor Adamu Ahmed, made the commendation recently during a courtesy visit to the Governor at the Sir Kashim Ibrahim Government House, Kaduna.
Professor Ahmed praised the Governor’s commitment to peace building, describing it as pragmatic and result-yielding.
He noted that the relative peace and security in the state had created a conducive environment for academic and economic activities to thrive. The Vice-Chancellor also lauded the Governor’s people-centered policies, including initiatives in education, agriculture, and transportation.
The Governor’s peace initiatives, according to Professor Ahmed, have had a significant impact on the state’s development.
During the visit, Professor Ahmed discussed pressing challenges facing the university, including dilapidated infrastructure and land disputes.
Professor Ahmed assured the Governor of the university community’s preparedness to collaborate with the state government to achieve mutual goals and objectives. The commendation reflects the Governor’s effective leadership and commitment to promoting coexistence among the state’s diverse communities.
In his response, Governor Sani directed an out-of-court settlement for the Mando land dispute between the University and the state government.
Governor Uba Sani used the occasion to announce allocation of land to the University for its staff housing programme.
Governor Sani also expressed his commitment to help upgrade the university’s road network within both the academic and residential areas of the University .
