The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Governor of Bauchi State Senator Bala Muhammed, in his quest to discover and work with result oriented talents, selfless and dedicated intellectuals in the academia, has searched and subsequently appointed one of the best and world renowned Professor of Urban and Regional Planning in Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, Professor Adamu Ahmed as the State’s Commissioner of Lands and Survey.

Adamu Ahmad who is an indigene of the state from Ningi Local Government Area, where he was born and where he attended both his Primary and Secondary Schools. He proceeded to Ahmadu Bello University Zaria in where he obtained his B.Sc. in Geography.

After his mandatory National Youth Service Corps, he joined the services of the university where he later bagged his M.Sc. and PhD in Urban and Regional Planning.

Adamu who joined the services of Ahmadu Bello University as a Graduate Assistant rose through the rank to Professor of Urban and Regional Planning.

Professor Adamu had held several positions in the university that included, Head, Urban and Regional Planning, a Position he held for four years. He also served as Deputy Managing Director of the University’s Consultancy Outfit – Ahmadu Bello University Consultancy Services (ABUCONS).

Before his latest appointment as Commissioner to serve his home state, Professor Adamu was the Director of the Directorate of University Advancement of Ahmadu Bello University.

He has trained several undergraduate and postgraduate students both in ABU and several other universities where he worked as a visiting lecturer.

He has published several journals, articles in both local and international journals, majority of which he was a single author.

Professor Adamu had on several and different times served as a member of Federal Government Visitation panels to several universities.

He served as a member, planning committee, Bauchi State University Gadau, member National Research and Screening Committee, Board Member, under the able leadership of His Royal Highness, Da Buba Gyang, the Gbom Gwong of Jos.

He is a fellow member of several Professional Associations such as Nigeria Institute of Town Planners, Board of Trustee Member, Nigeria Resilient Cities Network.

He had served as a consultant to World Bank, African Development, United National Habitat, Federal and State.

Professor Adamu has won several merit awards, the latest of which is Chinese Ambassador’s Awards for promoting China – Nigeria bilateral cooperation. He is also winner of NITP President’s Awards for meritorious service to the town planning profession.
