The Vice Chancellor emphasized the university’s efforts to provide students with financial and income generation experience through various welfare initiatives and skills acquisition programs.
He also congratulated the graduands for completing their academic sojourn as undergraduates, urging them to always be good ambassadors and to always look back to their Alma mater.
“As you step into the world, remember that you are ambassadors of Bayero University, Kano. Uphold the virtues of integrity, excellence, and service, and contribute meaningfully to the development of your communities and our nation,” he added.
Professor Abbas also hailed the Federal Government under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for introducing three crucial transformative reforms that directly impact federal universities, which include the Establishment of the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFund), Removal of Federal Universities from the Integrated Personnel and Payroll Information System (IPPIS) and Exemption of University Research Grants and Endowments from the Treasury Single Account (TSA).
He also appealed to the Federal Government to formulate a clear policy that supports universities to address the challenges posed by high cost of electricity tariff on the efficient running of the institutions through reduced electricity tariff for educational institutions and investment in renewable energy solutions to provide a sustainable and cost-effective alternative.
The Vice Chancellor also commended the Kano State Government under the leadership of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf for its unwavering support to the advancement of education in the state, through donations and several scholarship offers to the students.
