Dr. Girei, a renowned scholar and educator, was formally inducted into the prestigious Nigeria Academy of Education (NAE) on November 6, 2024. This milestone marks a significant achievement in his illustrious career.
As the Director of Research and Development/Centre of Excellence at the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) in Abuja, Dr. Girei has demonstrated exceptional leadership and expertise in education. His professional experience spans over three decades, with notable roles including Commissioner for Higher Education in Adamawa State and Executive Chairman of the Adamawa State Universal Basic Education Board.
In addition to his professional accomplishments, Dr. Girei has also made significant contributions to academic research. As a visiting associate professor at Usmanu Danfodio University and visiting senior lecturer at Federal University Kashere, he has shared his knowledge with students and inspired the next generation of educators.
At Federal University Kashere, Dr. Girei teaches postgraduate students in research methodology and foundations of education and has supervised five master’s degree students’ theses.
Dr. Girei’s commitment to transparency and accountability is evident in his role as Chairman of the Anti-Corruption and Transparency Unit at Tertiary Education Trust Fund, a position he has held since July 2017.
He also serves on various committees, including:
– Coordinating Director, Committee on Deepening Research & Development (August 2019 – December 2019)
– Member, Technical Advisory Committee on Book Development Fund (August 2019 – present)
– Member, National Research Fund Monitoring and Screening Committee (June 2019 – present)
– Member, Impact Assessment Committee on TETFund project intervention (August 2019 – present).
Dr. Girei’s continuing professional development is evident in his participation in international seminars and workshops.
The Nigeria Academy of Education’s recognition of Dr. Girei’s outstanding achievements serves as a testament to his tireless efforts to improve education in Nigeria.
