The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Cross River State, UNICROSS, Prof. Francisca Bassey, has extended warm felicitations to the Muslim community in Nigeria and across the world on the occasion of Eid al-Kabir.
In a goodwill message issued on Thursday, Prof. Bassey described the festival as a season of sacrifice, faith, and obedience that offers profound lessons for nation-building and personal conduct.
She urged Muslims to reflect on the core values of Eid el-Kabir, selflessness, submission to a higher purpose, and compassion for others, and to translate those values into actions that strengthen unity, peace, and mutual respect across Nigeria’s diverse communities.
“As an academic community, we recognize that progress thrives where people of different faiths live and work together in harmony,” Prof. Bassey said. “I encourage our staff, students, and partners of the Muslim faith to use this period to pray for the peace and prosperity of our university, Cross River State, and the nation at large.”
The Vice-Chancellor also reaffirmed UNICROSS’s commitment to fostering an inclusive environment where every student and staff member, regardless of religious background, can pursue excellence without hindrance.
She wished the Muslim faithful a peaceful celebration and prayed that the season’s blessings bring renewed hope and strength to all.
Eid el-Kabir, also known as the Festival of Sacrifice, commemorates the willingness of Prophet Ibrahim to sacrifice his son in obedience to God’s command.
