As Professor Mohammed Tawfiq Ladan prepares to bow out as Director-General of the Nigerian Institute of Advanced Legal Studies (NIALS) tomorrow, September 30, Dr. Tonye Clinton Jaja, Executive Director of the Nigerian Law Society, has extolled the renowned legal scholar’s virtues.
“Prof. Ladan’s exceptional leadership, resilience, and commitment to mentorship have left an indelible mark on legal academia,” Dr. Jaja said in a glowing tribute. “His ability to navigate complex challenges has inspired countless scholars and practitioners.”
Dr. Jaja attributed his own success in legislative drafting to Prof. Ladan’s mentorship. “Prof. Ladan’s emphasis on continuous publication in niche areas of law has been instrumental in my growth as a legal scholar.”
Prof. Ladan’s dedication to empowering the next generation of legal scholars has yielded invaluable connections and opportunities. “His investment in law students and professional relationships has been remarkable,” Dr. Jaja noted.
His impact extends beyond Nigeria, with involvement in international organizations such as the UN Experts Working Group on Environment and ECOWAS Experts Working Group on Harmonization of Business Laws in West Africa.
“Prof. Ladan’s legacy will continue to inspire future generations of legal scholars and practitioners,” Dr. Jaja said. “He embodies the qualities of a true leader, empowering others and leaving a lasting impact.”
As Prof. Ladan bows out from NIALS tomorrow, Dr. Jaja’s tribute serves as a fitting acknowledgment of his contributions to legal academia.
