One of the leaders of the host community of Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Samaru Community, Comrade Shuaibu Halilu Ahmad has warned the leadership of Zazzau Emirate Development Association (ZEMDA) to stay out of the politics of the University, which he said they know next to nothing about, apart from gossip and hypocrisy.
Comrade Ahmad, a one time Acting Chairman of the Institution’s branch of Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU), wondered why some people who are inconsequential even in their immidiate communities and ignorant of the workings of a University system will be dabbling into it’s affairs because they have been commissioned to do so for their selfish benefits and at the expense of the larger interest and peaceful existence of the University.
Comrade Ahmad who spoke to Education Monitor in an exclusive chat in a reaction to a Daily Trust’s publication in which the duo of Alhaji Ahmdu Maccido and Alhaji Sani Ibrahim Tanko were quoted in a statement they jointly signed as President and Publicity Secretary of ZEMDA, respectively, discrediting and challenging the selection process that led to the emergence of Professor Kabiru Bala as the 12th Substantive Vice Chancellor of the University.
Comrade Ahmad said by claiming that the selection process was not followed or compromised by the Adamu Fika-led Governing Council and the Selection Board, the duo of Maccido and Tanko succeeded in exposing themselves as Ignoramuses, liars and ignorants.
The former acting SSANU Strong Man educated the aggrieved wailers that the process of the selection of Professor Kabiru Bala was in tandem with all known and established statutes and laws of the University and the University Miscellaneous act as amended in 1993, 2003 and 2012.
He therefore adviced Tanko and Maccido to stop attempting to drag the good name of the Emirate and the People’s Emir to the mud. He said instead of hiding under the Emirate to instigate violence which is against the character of the Emir, they should please use a different platform to play their dirty and unpopular politics.
Comrade Ahmad said Ahmadu Bello University is a Federal University which is different from a local government or the likes of Nuhu Bamalli Polytechnic where they are known for going there to attempt to influence or deceive people using the good name of the Emirate.
He however said even the Local Governments and Nuhu Bamalli Polytechnic have come of age and can never be intimidated by any NGO or unpatriotic group of people in the Emirate.
