In a surprising turn of events, Reno Omokri has praised former President Muhammadu Buhari for reaffirming his loyalty to the All Progressives Congress (APC) and distancing himself from Nasir el-Rufai.
Omokri, a prominent commentator, noted that Buhari’s decision shows he puts the country’s interests above ethnic loyalty, giving hope to those who believe in a united Nigeria.
According to Omokri, Buhari’s loyalty to the APC is a testament to his commitment to the country’s unity. “President Buhari put fidelity to the country above attachment to ethnicity,” Omokri said.
The move is seen as a significant blow to el-Rufai’s ambitions, who had recently defected to the Social Democratic Party. Buhari’s rebuff has exposed el-Rufai as a disgruntled schemer, according to Omokri.
“He is not fighting for Arewa. He is fighting for his relevance,” Omokri said.
