Prof. Qaseem Succeeds Maiturare As VC, IBBUL

The Visitor of Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University Lapai (IBBUL), Governor Abubakar Sani Bello, has approved the appointment of Professor A. A. Qaseem as the Vice Chancellor of the University.

Professor Qaseem’s appointment follows the successful completion of the 5 – year tenure of Professor M. N. Maiturare who was appointed in 2015.

Until his new and 5 – year single tenure appointment as the Vice Chancellor, Professor Qaseem was the immediate past Deputy Vice Chancellor (Administration) of the University.

Professor Qaseem who is from the same constituency with the Governor, and like his predecessor, was a staff of Ahamdu Bello University Zaria where he obtained both his Undergraduate and Postgraduate Degree Certificates.

While he was in ABU where he rose to the rank of Professor and Dean of the Faculty of Science, he was appointed an external Council Member of IBBUL where he had earlier served as a sabbatical and visiting lecturer for years.

Commenting on Professor Qaseem’s appointment, the outgoing Vice Chancellor, Prof. Muhammad Nasiru Maiturare, described him as a selfless, hardworking and experienced scholar cum administrator who, with the full support of the staff and students, can take the University to enviable heights.

Prof. Maiturare therefore pleaded with the Visitor to extend the kind of olive branch and support he enjoyed from him (Visitor) to the new Vice Chancellor so that there will be continuity in the projects we have so far undertaken and delivery of good governance in the University.
