The Immidiate Past Vice Chancellor of the Federal University Wukari, Professor Abubakar M. Kundiri, has been conferred with a chieftaincy title of Wanaku of Wukari by the Aku-Uka of Wukari, His Majesty Shekarau Angyu Masa-Ibi.

In a letter conveying the conferment of the Chieftaincy title, the Aku-Uka said the Chieftaincy title is in recognition of Prof Kundiri’s deep commitment and unquantifiable developmental strides towards the growth and development of the University, the immediate community and the country at large.

He said “We have observed with keen interest the manner in which you have been handling public issues which mostly turned out to have direct bearing not only on the University but the nation as a whole. We are indeed very proud to have you as Vice Chancellor whose contributions to nation building are immeasurable”.

He added that, “In recognition of your knowledge in handling public issues, I, on the advice of my kingmakers decided to bestow on you the Chieftaincy title of Wanaku which means Minister of works”.

His Majesty Masa-Ibi, who is also the Chairman, Taraba State Council of Chiefs, said by this title, Professor Kundiri is expected to be the direct representative of the Aku Uka in brokering and advocating peaceful coexistence among the diverse people of not only inhabitants of wukari but also Nigeria as a whole.

The Royal Majesty expressed optimism that the title, being a position of great honour with attendant great responsibilities, is a cap well fit on Prof. Kundiri’s head, given the wealth of experience of the erudite Scholar.
