The death of Professor Dahiru Yayaha, a global sage of history of political ideas, who taught at History Department, of Bayero University, Kano, has been described as “…a fal of global academic hero of international repute,” by Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje of Kano State.
“As an academic of international repute, a Professor for over 30 year before his death, an encyclopedia of history, Professor Dahiru Yahaya, was a refine scholar who produced refine academics at both local and global levels,” acknowledged the governor.
The news of his death, according to the governor, “…is shocking, painful and devastating to all of us. It is indeeda monumental loss, not only to his families, but to the academic community, our state, our country and Africa as a continent.”
As an activist, with all that it took, to exhibit seriousness, speciality, Professor Dahiru Yahaya, produced hundreds of Post Graduate students and Thousands of undergraduates both within and outside Africa,” he stated.
While acknowledging that, Prof. Yahaya, was visible in many academic associations and shaped many geniuses in history as a course and a window to see the world on table.”
Governor Ganduje said “On behalf of the government and people of Kano state, I am sending our condolences to the families, academia, Nigeria and Africa as a whole, over the death of Professor Dahiru Yahaya of blessed memory. May Allah forgive all his shortcomings and reward his good deeds abundantly.”
He further described the deceased as an embodiment of humility, original scholarship, seriousness, critical mind, clearer understanding of the worldview and enthusiastic world class scholar.
