Outgoing VC, Maiturare, Commends Visitor, Thanks Colleagues, Students, Lists Significant Achievements

The outgoing Vice Chancellor of Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University Lapai (IBBUL), Professor Muhammad Nasiru Maiturare has commended Visitor of the University, Governor Abubakar Sani Bello for his exemplary, relentless support and commitment to see the university excelled above its peers in line with the dream and vision of its Founding Father Late Engineer A. A. Kure.
The Vice Chancellor who was speaking at the 3rd Combined Convocation Ceremony of the University which he described as his last as the Vice Chancellor of IBBUL, stressed that apart from the founder of the institution, no visitor had cared for and invested in it like Governor Abubakar Sani Bello.
He said his five years in the University as Vice Chancellor had been both challenging and rewarding. An indication of the challenges, according to him, is that prior to his appointment, he had no single grey hair on him, but now, almost all his hairs have gone grey.
He however said an indication of the reward is that with the support of his colleagues, in council, senate and management and even students were as able to record chains of modest achievements which are as follows;
Physical structures; New Lecture Halls, Staff quarters, Department and Faculty Buildings, Laboratories, Land etc worth billions of Naira were added to the physical facilities in the University – funded by TETFund, State Government, Federal Agencies and Internally Generated Revenue.
Construction of the first phase of Medical College of university is about completion.
New programs: B.Sc. Transport Management, Postgraduate and Part-Time degree programs including Long Vocation Training have been introduced. Proficiency program in Arabic and French for staff.
Staffing: Over 100 additional lecturers were employed ranging from Professors to Assistant Lecturers
Operational Vehicles: Buses for staff and students’ shuttle, utility vehicles, ambulance and official vehicles to facilitate University operations were procured.
Research engagements: we are engaged in high level Research at national and international in collaboration with NRF, AfDB, UNICEF, NNPC, NUC, RMRDC, FMMSD.
Inaugural lectures are taking place as scheduled.
Students’ welfare and good learning environment; scholarships for best students, loan for poor students, shuttle buses, additional boreholes in hostels, expansion and more hostels, expansion of clinic facilities etc are now being enjoyed in the University.
Community engagement; adult literacy programs adopted villages, etc.
The university entered into institutional collaboration with Grirne American University of Cyprus for an international degree program in selected disciplines
Similarly, IBB University has signed an MoU with Astria Learning of USA for online highly valued international certification programs to commence in 2020.
