The Centre for the Advancement of Research on Non-Communicable Diseases is working towards holding a Trade Fair for herbal medicine next year.
The Fair, which is billed to coincide with the birthday of the Patron of the Centre, former President Olusegun Obasanjo, will hold between 5th and 8th of March 2024.
This was contained in a communique from the meeting of the Governing Council of the Centre which was co-signed by Professor E. Abdurahaman Chairman, and Dr. Samuel Ajayi, secretary, said the Trade Fair will also witness a Book Launch Medicinal Plants for treatment of Diabetes Mellitus.
According to the communique, the former President, while reiterating on the vision of the Centre, called for intensified effort to suppress the menace of non-communicable disease on the populace.
He urged the members of the centre to activate processes of starting something while waiting for all conditions to be met.
He encouraged the centre to engage in aggressive media advocacy to project the activities of the centre to the wider world.
While donating a sum of one million naira, the former president also promised to furnish the centre and provide administrative staff for the centre.
Meanwhile, modalities are on top gear for collaboration between the centre and the African Bioscience Laboratory to facilitate the process of acquiring equipment, maintenance and training of staff.
The meeting also concluded plans to vigouriosly pursue potential fundings for the centre from Chinese government or Agency through the Chinese embassy in Nigeria.
The meeting had in attendance former President Olusegun Obasanjo, Prof. Ilesanmi, Prof. Adesanya, Prof. Abduraham, Mr Vitalis Ortese, Dr Akindele Adeyi, Dr Samuel Ajayi and Prof. T.S. Allagh.
