In a historic handover ceremony that took place on Thursday, 12th September 2024, in the office of the Director General, Professor MT Ladan, whose 5-year tenure as Director General of the Nigerian Institute of Advanced Legal Studies (NIALS) has come to an end, formally passed the baton to Professor Animi Sylvanus Pepple, the most senior academic Director of Research at the Lagos office.
Professor Animi, a distinguished scholar and researcher, brings a wealth of experience and exceptional leadership skills to her new role. As the most senior academic Director of Research, she has consistently demonstrated expertise and dedication to advancing legal education.
Professor Ladan expressed heartfelt gratitude to Almighty Allah for guiding him throughout his tenure and for using him to build a new generation of leaders within the institute. He thanked the management and staff for their support and cooperation, which enabled him to make a lasting impact.
The outgoing Director General expressed confidence in Professor Animi’s ability to lead NIALS to even greater heights and pledged to continue contributing to the development of legal education and the profession in the country.
Professor Animi thanked Professor Ladan for his mentorship and leadership, which laid a solid foundation for the institute’s success. She pledged to build on his legacy, focusing on innovative research, capacity building, and collaboration. She sought the continued support and cooperation of the management and staff to achieve the institute’s vision.
As a token of appreciation for his dedicated service, Professor Ladan received a certificate for the successful completion of his eventful and impactful 5-year tenure as Director General of NIALS.
The handover ceremony marked a new chapter in NIALS’ history, as the institute continues to strive for academic excellence, innovation, and impactful research under the leadership of Professor Animi Sylvanus Pepple.
