The Governing Council of Nigerian Institute of Advanced Legal Studies (NIALS), under the Chairmanship of Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Olukayode Ariwo Ola, has approved the 2022 promotion of Staff of the Institute with effect from 1st/January/2023.
The Justice Olukayode Ariwo Ola-led Council approved the promotion on Tuesday, 17 January, 2023, during the Institute’s 50th Governing Council meeting as recommended by the Council’s Appointment and Promotion Committee.
According to the summary of the 2022 Promotion exercise as captured by the Institute’s Director General, Professor Muhammad Taufiq Ladan, Daily Update of activities of the Institute, qualified Academic and non Academic staff who put up for the 2022 Promotion exercise were subjected to the usual and mandatory Promotion examinations, where out of a total of 24 Academic Staff shortlisted for Internal Assessment, only nine were successful having met the minimum percentage reguired of publications with the relevant spread at both national and international levels.
Of the nine that were successful, two were promoted to the rank of professors, two were promoted to the rank of Associate Professors, three were promoted to the rank of Senior Research Fellows, two made it to the rank of RF 1, one failed to meet the reguired minimum set of publications/percentage for SRF from RF 1, while 14 were absent for the Internal Assessment because they were not ready.
On the side of Non Academic Staff, out of a total of 48 non Academic staff considered in 2022, 42 were successful having met the needed percentage needed for each rank.
A total of six of the non-academic staff failed to meet the reguired percentage during the interview session, or lacked the needed professional qualificatons required for the next ranks applied for.
