The Head of Avian Influenza Molecular Laboratory, Veterinary Teaching Hospital , Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Dr Yunusa Yahaya Pala, has emerged Chairman of the Institution’s branch of National Association of Academic Technologist (NAAT).

In a fierce and keenly contested By-Election, which took place on Wednesday, 18th, January, 2023, at Mamman Kontagora Square, ABU, Dr Pala was declared winner with a narrow margin.

Dr Pala, a Chief Technologist and an unassuming Unionist is reputed and admired by both colleagues, friends and foes in the University for his academic astuteness and passion for research and development.

Though a Technologist with a difference, Dr Pala’s passion for research and academic development was what propelled him to pursuing and obtaining both professional academic certificates in, and outside his core research area.

Some of the Certificates obtained by the Technologist include – Professional Certificate in Molecular Biology and Biotechnology, Professional Certificate in Data Analysis, Professional Certificate in Data Analysis.

Other Certificates obtained by Dr Pala who was also a one time treasurer of NAAT included Professional Certificate in Computer Application Packages, C and G London Institute Part II, HND Microbiology/Virology, HND Guidance and Counseling, HND Arabic, B.Sc Zoology, MSc Vet. Public Health, and PhD Vet. Public Health.

Dr Pala is a member of various Committees in the University, such as Member Joint Consultative Committee of the Ahmadu Bello University, Member, COVID-19 Technical Team; Member, of the Committee on Snake Menace on Campus, Member, NAAT Committee on Education, Member, Institute of Public Analysts of Nigeria.

He is a Facilitator, Recombinant DNA Technology Training; Lecturer BMLS, OND, HND and Basic Technology, and has a lot of National and International Publications.

His victory was cheered by friends and well-wishers, who wish him success in his tenure.
