One Personality and Alumnus of this great university that thrilled and inspired Graduands at the 8th convocation ceremony of Federal University Lokoja was the Founder and Chief Executive of Human Rights Radio, Dr. Ahmed Isa, popularly known and called ‘Ordinary President’. As a renowned human rights champion and philanthropist, Dr. Isa’s reality radio and TV program, Brekete Family, seeks justice for the helpless and gives a voice to the voiceless.
Born on January 1, Dr. Isa’s life has been dedicated to advocating for the oppressed and marginalized. His remarkable contributions earned him an honorary doctorate degree from the Federal University Lokoja in 2023.
At the convocation, Dr. Isa inspired graduands with his satirical yet motivational speech. “Learn to use social media for positive business ventures,” he urged. “It has become a successful employer of labor worldwide. Acquire skills that will make you self-employed after graduation. White-collar jobs are scarce, but your skills can bring better food to the table.”
Dr. Isa shared his personal experience, citing his successful YouTube channels as an example. “I’m a beneficiary of social media,” he said. “My YouTube channels have opened up new opportunities for me, and I want the same for you.” He emphasized that skills acquisition is key to financial stability, self-employment, diversified income streams, improved employability, and personal growth.
“With skills in high demand, graduates can create jobs, innovate solutions, and drive economic growth,” he said. Dr. Isa also encouraged the graduands to explore alternative paths to success.
To empower the students, Dr. Isa pledged to build a modern Skills Acquisition Centre for the university. “The centre will equip graduates with practical skills, entrepreneurial mindset, industry-relevant training, mentorship programs, and access to resources and networks,” Dr. Isa said.
As an alumnus, Dr. Isa’s presence thrilled and inspired graduands, solidifying his legacy as a champion of human rights and empowerment. “Even if I die, my family will fulfill this promise,” he assured. “I want to see Nigerian youth equipped with skills to succeed in life.”
