The management of Federal University Lokoja has expressed profound appreciation to dignitaries, institutions and members of the public who attended the inauguration of its fourth Vice-Chancellor, Professor Gbenga Solomon Ibileye, held on Monday, 16 February 2026.
In a statement signed by Dr Tòsín Ọlágúnjú, Director of Strategic Communication and Corporate Documentation, the university described the ceremony as a historic milestone marked by dignity, shared expectations and optimism for a new phase of leadership.
The statement acknowledged the support of the Visitor to the university, the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council, as well as members of the Governing Council, noting that their leadership and oversight remain vital to institutional stability and progress.
The university also extended appreciation to the Kogi State Government, members of Senate, principal officers, traditional rulers and elders of Lokoja for their continued partnership and commitment to educational development.
According to the statement, the institution further recognised the contributions of academic and non-teaching staff, students, members of the host community, guests, family members and journalists whose presence and media coverage amplified the significance of the event.
The university noted that the inauguration signals a renewed commitment to strengthened partnerships, institutional consolidation and sustained excellence under the new administration.
The statement extends appreciation to all participants for sharing in what was described as an important moment in the institution’s continuing journey.
