IBBUL Confers Honorary Degrees On Founder, Tinubu, Dzukogi, As Tinubu Donates N20m

The founder of Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University Lapai (IBBUL), Late Engineer A. A. Kure, his Political Associate, former Governor of Lagos State, and Architect of Modern Political Party Alliance in Nigeria cum leader of the Action People Congress (APC), Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and former Chief Judge of Niger State, Justice Maria Sanda Dzukogi have been awarded the University’s Honorary Doctorate Degrees.
Kure’s reward was presented to his widow, Senator Zainab Kure, the Degrees were conferred on the trio over the weekend at the University’s 3rd Combined Convocation Ceremony by the University’s Chancellor, the Emir of Minna Alhaji (Dr.) Umar Farouk Bahago with the assistance of the Registrar, on the authority of the Council and Senate of the University.
The Convocation Ceremony which was presided over by the visitor of the institution, Niger State Government, Alhaji Abubakar Sani Bello, was well attended by different dignitaries from different walks of life.
While the Founder of the university and Late Governor of Niger State, Engineer A. A. Kure was conferred with Posthumous Honorary Degree of Doctor of Science Sc.D (Honoris Causa), Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu was awarded Honorary Degree of Doctor of Letters (Honoris Causa), and Justice Maria Sanda Zukogi was conferred with Honorary Degree of Doctor of Law (LLD) Honoris Causa.
Speaking on behalf of recipients of the Honorary Degrees, Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu thanked the Council and Senate of the University for considering them worthy of the Award Degrees.
The Politician who revealed that when the Founder of the University, who was his colleague as a governor was alive, he was always discussing the University with him, without him (Tinubu) ever having any premonition that one day the University will consider him worthy of receiving its Honorary Degree.
Senator Tinubu however assured that he will try to justify the confidence reposed on him and will continue to work for the benefit of humanity and educational development of the country as envisioned by the Founder of the university and all patriotic Nigerians.
ThePolitician who holds the traditional title of ‘Jagaba’ of Borgu Kingdom in Niger State donated the sum of N20m to the university during its Endowment Fund launching, promised to do more for the University whenever the occasion arose.
