Bingham University, Karu in Nassrawa State has been granted full accreditation status to commence Medicine & Surgery programme by the National Universities Commission (NUC).
This was contained in a statement from the University and signed by the Head of Information and Protocol Unit, Daburi Misal.
According to the statement, the Accreditation letter, which was signed by the Director of Accreditation NUC, Dr. N.B Saliu, pegs the Accreditation on a span of 5 years.
“ln a letter conveying the commission’s approval for full accreditation to the Vice Chancellor, Bingham University, Prof.W.B Qurix , OFR, signed by the Director of Accreditation NUC,Dr.N.B Saliu on behalf of the Executive Secretary NUC,stated that the Accreditation is valid for 5 years”, the statement read in part.
In the same vein, the University has also secured the approval of the National Universities Commission to commence 17 new programmes.
The new programmes, which were billed to commence in the 2019/2020 session beginning in September 2019, have already seen the light of day as many students were spotted jostling for the new programmes.
According to the statement from the University, undergraduate courses approved include B.Sc. Architecture, B.Sc. Landscape Architecture, B.Sc. Estate Management, B.Sc. Enviromental Management and B.Sc. Quantity Surveying.
Others include; B.Sc. Entrepreneurship, B.Sc. Public Health and Bachelor of Medical Laboratory Science(BMLS), B.A Philosophy, B.A Religious Studies and B. Ed. Guidance and Counselling.
The statement also disclosed that Postgraduate programmes approved by NUC include PGD Computer Science, Master of Cyber Security and Digital Forensics(MCSDF), Master of Election Management (MEM), Master of Legislative Drafting (MLD),PGD Social Media Journalism and the Master of Public Health (MPH).
The departments of Pharmaceutical and Medicinal Chemistry and Pharmacognosy were also approved as new departments under the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences.
