The Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Mr Abubakar Malami (SAN), who along with Africa’s richest man and business mogul of international repute, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, Group Managing Director of Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, Malam Mele Kyari, Peter Okocha, immediate past governor and Visitor of Nasarawa State University Keffi, Senator Umaru Tanko Almakura, has, on behalf of the Awardees, thanked the Council, Senate and the Professor Suleiman Bala Muhammad-led administration of the University for the award of the prestigious and honorary degree of the university.
While the Attorney General was physically present to receive the award, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, Peter Okocha, Senator Almakura and Mele Kyari were there by proxy.
He said, like his fellow recipients, he considers the award as a mark of honour on them.
“As a one time lecturer, myself, I consider the award as an academic gesture which is in line with my long cherished aspiration to promote education of our youth”, he said.
He said it is inspiring when universities of repute like the Nasarawa state university looks up to us and confer on us its prestigious degrees.
He said the recognition and the gesture will no doubt propel or motivate us to continue to look inwards to create ways of supporting education in the country, particularly, our universities.
Malami therefore commended the university for its determination in building a virile academic environment with real academic culture..
