The Guest Speakers of the 22nd convocation ceremony of Igbinedion University, Okada IUO), Lord Mayor of Leeds City, UK, Abigail Marshal Katung, Acting Executive Secretary of National Universities Commission (NUC), Mr. Chris Jibreel Maiyaki, and Professor Egle Lastauskiene from Vilnius University, Lithuania, have emphasized to the graduands the importance of staying back in Nigeria to contribute to its development.

Nigeria, they noted, is a land of great opportunities, and it needs its young, intelligent, and hardworking individuals to work collectively towards making it a better country and a leader in Africa.

The speakers encouraged the graduands to resist the temptation of seeking greener pastures abroad, popularly known as “japa,” but instead, stay back and be part of the solution to Nigeria’s challenges.

The 22nd convocation ceremony recently took place with dignitaries including parents, friends and well-wishers of the university from home and abroad.

The occasion was marked by inspiring speeches from the guest speakers, who all urged the graduands to be good ambassadors of their alma mater.
